Rachel Ackerman is an attorney at Greer, Burns & Crain in Chicago. Her legal practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law, with a focus on patent prosecution, litigation, and anti-counterfeiting.

Ms. Ackerman received her J.D. (with honors) from DePaul University with a certificate in intellectual property law. During law school, she served on the DePaul Law Review as an Associate Executive Editor. She worked as a law clerk at Greer, Burns & Crain while in law school. Ms. Ackerman gained valuable experience working as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Judge Thomas M. Durkin, and the Honorable Judge Franklin U. Valderrama at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where she assisted in drafting judicial opinions. Ms. Ackerman also worked in-house as an intellectual property extern at a research hospital.

Before rejoining Greer, Burns & Crain, Ms. Ackerman’s practice focused on U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution.

Prior to law school, Ms. Ackerman earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University. She worked as a project engineer for a medical device company and a pharmaceutical company.
