Levie Basok is an intellectual property attorney at Greer, Burns & Crain in the Chicago, Illinois office. He primarily practices patent prosecution in the electromechanical arts.
Prior to joining Greer, Burns & Crain, Mr. Basok’s practice primarily focused on patent application preparation, examiner interviews, amendments, appeals, and opinions of counsel. Mr. Basok also spent several years working as a contracted Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) Examiner for the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, which provided him an inside view into the patent examination process.
Mr. Basok earned his Juris Doctor from Indiana University Maurer School of Law (Bloomington). As a law student, Mr. Basok was the Editor-In-Chief of IP Theory, and a member of the International Journal for Global Legal Studies. He also assisted with providing pro bono services as patent counsel to small-entity and micro-entity clients in greater Indiana through the Indiana University Intellectual Property Clinic.
Before entering the legal field, Mr. Basok worked as a manufacturing engineer with a large diesel-engine manufacturer. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University with a Minor in Electrical Engineering.
